Stephen Dumayne is a Cardiff based artist and illustrator. His exhibition work takes place across the UK, predominantly in Wales. He is a painter who works in a distinctive minimalist style, with naive overtones. This way of painting has come about partly as a result of his interest in draughtsmanship and his architectural training.

He particularly enjoys painting Victorian architecture as a subject and is regularly commissioned for house and business portraiture around his local area. Some of the paintings he produces are more illustrative and whimsical in their content, and are equally as popular with customers and galleries, as the more 'traditional' subjects.

He is very fond of cats and this is a subject he returns to often, as is the "Cat burglar" - an ongoing story he first illustrated as a Southampton undergraduate. In the last eighteen months or so, Stephen has worked more closely with the business community and has been involved in larger, more public projects as a result.

Another ongoing project he is involved with currently is the production of new images for greeting cards, primarily for the Welsh domestic market, but with a view to expanding across the U.K. later this year.

During the last year in particular, he has been collaborating closely with his agents, Meiklejohn Illustration, and will be appearing under their company 'umbrella' in 'Circus' - an industry standard illustration annual that is published globally.
